ഒരു പഴയ സിനിമ

Bad day at Back Rock is a Western film directed by John Sturges. It tells the story of a mysterious man who arrives at lonely western town of Black Rock in earch of a man named Kimoko. Spencer Tracy, Robert Ryan, Anne Francis, Dean Jagger, Walter Brennan, John Ericson, Ernest Borgnine and Lee Marvin are the main actors in the film.

John Macreedy arrives in a Southern Pacific Train to the desert town of Black Rock looking for a Japanese called Komoko to hand over a medal of hnour in the name of Kimoko’s son who died in WW II in Italy while saving his life.. The town had a shameful past it had buried in the sands and the inhabitants were afraid when it comes out hell may break loose. However, Macreedy manages to solve the mystery within 24 hours of his stay at the Black Rock despite all odds and leaves the town by train.
Spencer Tracy’s performane as Macreedy is commendable. Though he got best actor award for his role at the Canne’s he missed out Oscar. Dean Jagger as a alcoholic sheriff, Lee Marvin as a dimwitted tough, John Ericson as a nervous hotel clerk and Russell Collins as a station-master are all good, too.
The director had been able build up the tension in the movie in a slow manner culminating in a positive climax.
